Default cockerels crowing

hello again and thanks for the advice you have given me it is much appreciated now then can somebody please tell me how old are cockerels before they start crowing as mine is now eight weeks old but there is no sound from him yet

Ours Orpingtons - didnt start until they were about 16wks - tho once started they were quite noisy so make the most of the quiet!!
we had to rehome our 2 in the end but are now very happy with lots of girlies

Why do you need/want a cockerel? Hens will produce eggs without a mate. Do you want him for a pet? If so I don't think the neighbours will be happy.

unfortunatley we were given three chicks that were three weeks old so we had no idea that gladys the hen would turn out to be glyn the cockerel no problem though we can exchange him for her even though he has taken a very big shine to me
