  • Winter greens in greenhouse?

I hope this is not a silly question but if a lettuce is suitable for growing during winter (eg, lamb's lettuce, rocket or mizuna) does it need to be grown under cover or will it withstand frost?

Same goes for Swiss Chard or Perpetual Spinach (sown in July/Aug so plants are well established).

    Thanks!

If you get the right lettuce its fine outside. (winter density springs to mind)

Chard and perpetual spinach will be just fine outside. i think lambs lettuce is hardy but not sure. I think we sowed winter density and/or winter gem last year and it survived the snow and came back with a vengence in the spring. Not sure about mizuna though.
