  • What's been eating my trees?

Something's been having a nibble on the bark lately. Maybe some of you are wildlife experts and can tell me what it might be. I was putting it down to either a hare or a neighbour that's decided 60 trees is too much for my garden.

I didn't think there were any around but I suppose it could be. I'm supposed to be an ecologist so I should probably know this stuff.

Definitely no muntjac around here. We have hares the size of dogs, we have rabbits , possibly squirrels that I just haven't seen. That's about it really.

I was going to suggest Deer. As they haven't completely stripped them (yet) they should be ok with a little tlc. I would get some mesh round them sharpish, to prevent further damage. I would also stake at 45degrees in stead of vertical, to avoid root-rock.
