  • What to water with..

    Evening all

I finally got my water butt connected a couple of weeks ago, and since then it hasn't rained once That's left me watering the babies straight from the tap and I'm not sure what, if anything , to add to it.

In a moment of newbie-enthusiasm, I recently bought some "MiracleGrow" but to be honest, I'm not too happy about mixing chemicals into the water. Will straight tap water suffice or should I be looking at natural additives? My dear old Dad swears by a bag of sheep plop hanging in his water butt which he dunks up and down regularly, and the resulting crops of tomatoes and beans seem to bear this out. I've read about nettles being used in the same style and as there's loads not far from me, I'm quite open to trying them. I've also seen seaweed extract at my local garden centres. For further info, I'm growing beans, spinach, beetroot, sweetcorn and carrots in my main bed with potatoes in sacks, toms in hanging baskets and containers, and lots of different herbs in pots.

    Thanks in advance.

    Martyn.

If you're watering your seedlings, then all you need is ... water.

If you want to feed them (and they won't need it until they are bigger plants, then you might want to look at feeds)
