  • What to do with my newly bought grape & gooseberry plants whilst they wait for lotty?

    Evening all,

I have just bought 2 gooseberry plants & 1 grape plant and I was wondering what best to do with them whilst I wait to plant them down at the allotment at the weekend?

Shall I keep them in the porch as it is colder (& sheltered) as opposed to warmer areas of the house? Shall I plant them in pots (but I would have to carry the heavier load) and leave them outside?

    Thanks for your advice,

    Samuel

How are they packaged at the moment? Are they bareroot in a plastic bag? Definitely cooler than warmer, like a shed or garage. I'd take them out of bags and put the roots in a bucket or big pot of compost. Old compost will do. Just aim to keep them cool and slightly damp.

Cheers, what ever they are there is lush green growth so i presume it is in compost (there is lots of black taping around) - I will do it in the morning before I head off for the daily grind!
