  • what do i do next?

well after me being less than optomistic about my poundworld purchases, i am really really pleased with the results so far but wht do i do next?

The spring onions (white lisbon) are all growing well, but at what point do i need to repot/spilt them? and into what? will pots be ok?

and a similar question really for the french beans and the sugar snaps? there are photos on my blog, they are all growng really well, and i just don't want it all to go wrong!

Help needed!!....as usual! Glad to have you all back! xx

Hanna, I can only help with the spring onions. It is hard to see how deep your planter is, myself I plant direct into a 4" deep planter fairly thickly. Let the onions grow and thin when they start pushing each other. The thinnings are great on salad so no waste.

the planter that they came with is about 5cm deep, it just doesnt seem big enough for all that have germinated, but if i wait like you say until they are pushing each other, what should i plant them in? A 'trough-like' planter? in a row?

i put mine in whatever i got lying around, about 2" apart. i love spring onions so have got loads growing, some in beds, some in pots and some mixed in with other veg that takes longer to grow.
i bought one of them planters to see if they were any good and i think all 100 seeds germinated! i moved them on when they were about 3" tall and they all seem to be doing fine.
