  • Tomatoes black at base

Any idea why my plum tomatoes have gone black underneath, like a spot? They are in the greenhouse, my outdoor cherries are fine.

It is blossom end rot and I think the major cause is erratic watering. Some of mine got it because they kept blowing over so I kept having to water them to weigh them down and I think I overdid it! Better luck next time.

            Just a thought!

If they are so light they are blowing away they could not have enough water and that is the major cause of blossom end rot.

I`ve had this problem on my moneymakers in my greenhouse.. i let them get too dry whilst the first fruits were developing... Having said that, let the fruit ripen and just cut out the bad bits when you come to use them.. the rest of the tomato is perfectly usable!.
