  • Tomato Problem #2218762 (Flower drop)

    Hi,

My tomato plants are looking good. They had a little problem with shock when I put them straight into the greenhouse but look ok now as I feed them 100% organic seaweed and fleece them at night. I've also pampered them with warm feed (lukewarm water).

Just had a look today and one or two of the flowers has fallen off.

It's been a bit windy recently but they've been protected in the greenhouse.

Anyone with any answers to the problem? I would be grateful

These are the tomato plants in the greenhouse:

This is the flower in question (in red - sorry for poor pic):

    Can't see owt but...

if there is a little tiny green tomato under where the flower was, then it is ok, the flower was pollenated.

if not, it didn't pollenate and you need to do it by hand or get some insects in there. by hand - using a paintbrush, brush each flower every day to transfer the pollen - or shake the canes each day.

Thanks for the advice. I inspect them every day and my wife thinks I'm getting obsessive! I panic when something goes wrong!

      Thanks again

Never test the depth of the water with both feet

Perhaps someone could setup a web site for people with veg withdrawal issues, there could be pictures of veg in "tasteful" poses , perhaps a babe or hunk of the week and a section for Readers to post their own.

RESULT! The flowers in question have a tiny baby pea sized green ball!

I check on them every morning. I worry about them all day

I check on them soon as I get back from work

I check on them before I go to bed. I dream about them (literally!!!!)

Only had a garden since mid-Feb
