Default sod it !!!!

hello my plot is gettin a little grassy and im in the process of clearing it
can i compost the sods in a compost bin as i have two daleks spare at the moment or can i just turn the grass over leave it till aprill and rotovate it
or has any one got any other ideas must not invole any money as im skint

Hi Dinky - we're going to chop our turfs up and stick them in the dalek. I've also read somewhere that you can put them grass side down in the bottom of a dug out bed.

Upside down turves stacked up like bricks and left to compost make a good fibrous base for a John Innes type potting compost!

better still if you mix it 2 layers of turf to a layer of Muck & leave for 12 months

Hello Dinky Doo, I usually just stack them green side down. They rot into lovely friable compst.

I've often just cheated and turned the sods upside down and left them where they are.... eventually the grass gives up the ghost and dies off....

I tried just digging grass over but it grew through again, leading to LOTS of weeding. (So guess where I'll be for 3 hours this afternoon!?)

thanks for the advice on that one but ive just done some heavy duty spraying and (hopefully)gonna get it ploughed next week
any way came home from the plot to find my 16 month lad has just cleaned his teeth ..... with soap bless him
