    Hi all,

    1st post here... I have managed to germinate about a dozen seeds from some tesco Scotch Bonnets.

    I've put them in some clear plastic drinking cups as it is easier to see the roots once they establish.

    I just wanted to know what is the best thing to do from here. I have them in a propergator on the window ledge at the moment and there is 2 pairs of leaves on the majority of them at the moment. They are about 1" - 1.5" tall.

    When do I move them and what would I move them into and where would I keep them?

    They like light, heat and prefer drier compost. If in the prop keep the lid off. Pot them into a slightly bigger pot when roots start showing out the bottom of the pot. Final pot size around 20cm? Its a bit late for them but you might have fruit by the end of the season, if not try overwintering some for an earlier start next year.

    Edit - I've some Tesco sbs sown about mid-feb, they're showing small flower buds.

      Thanks so much for that !

      I can see from other posts that Jan/Feb is normally the best time to plant the seeds - what can I do to store the seeds until this time?

      I assume they've only just reappeared in supermarkets as they have just come back in season - can the seeds be removed and stored until next year?

        Just put the seeds on some kitchen roll for a couple of weeks to dry out, then bag em up. They'll keep for ages. I saved some Tesco Dorset Naga seeds from last September(-ish can't remember exactly) and they grew fine this season (Feb-time). They're just starting to bud/flower now.

          If you have a whole chilli just put it in a plastic tub and it will dry out and preserve the seeds inside. I did that last summer with some, and the seeds from them germinated no probs a few weeks ago when I tried them.

          I sowed my cayennes late March (22nd to be precise) and they have only just opened flowers in the past few days. Next year I'm definitely sowing in january.

            Wow I never new it was that simple - will be stocking up on SB seeds while I can !!!

            I've looked all over Tesco for the Dorset Naga - are they in the fruit and veg section or in a specialist aisle?
