  • Rocket

The kids and i planted some rocket seeds in a propegator and we have four wee lines of tiny wee plants.

How long can/should they stay in there and where should i put them? (no rude suggestions please lol)

I think it depends how thickly you've sown them etc. Can you post a pic? If you can see roots poking out the bottom of the tray or pot then probably ready tp be repotted.

You can sow rocket directly into the soil, there very hardy.

I wouldn't repot them, wait til they grow bigger then thin them out to give them more room to grow. They probably haven't got much of a root system yet so might not survive being disturbed. I'm no expert though ... My rocket doesn't even look like rocket and I've got a feeling I've sown something else by mistake lol

wait til its bigger and you might be able to plant it outside in chunks so you dont disturb the roots ...you know cut it into rows and then squares like slices of cake (gingerbread comes to mind). In future if you want to start it off inside try growing in a big pot or bucket but i wouldnt bother - as gingerninger says it grows like mad outside .....and if you buy the wild seeds it will keep going year after year.

My Dad sowed some Rocket, several years ago, and it self-seeds every year in the surrounding gravel paths. It's really strong-tasting now, and deeeelish - seems to get better each year, so it's well worth the effort.
