  • Rhubarb

This is the first time we have planted various rhubarb crowns - now sprouting - should we leave it to go to seed, pick it, cut stalkes before they develop - not sure what to do.

You should leave your rhubarb to grow for at least one season before pulling stalks from it. However, if it throws up a flower stalk (you will know, honest) cut that off as you don't want the plant to flower or it will die. They are left uncropped for the first year or so to let them become well established.

Hi Jackie I moved this out of chat to here so people would see it
I was advised to leave rhubarb to establish for the first year. If you really cant resist eating eat then pull very sparingly

I agree with this, just concentrate on getting it settled, feed and water it to get a more vigorous crop for next year. Even next year I would pull lightly until you're sure it's settled in well..... and not to force it for three years.
