    Propagators - Which one to buy ?

    We've just taken on our fist lottie and were told we should get a propagator to improve seed germination. Got no power at the lottie so need unheated. WHat are your thoughts or reccomendations.

    Anybody got or tried one of these? :

    Unless you are going to live down the lottie I would not recomend that you kept your propagator so far from home, our lottie manager had seedlings in a plastic greenhouse on his plot the sun came out unexpectedly and toasted all his young plants, a spare window sill would be better.

      Just what Paul says.
      Your plants will just boil on a sunny day ... they need to be close at hand for tinkering.

      Besides, £15 is a lotta money, when Lidl, Wilko etc do them for about £5. Keep your eyes peeled.

        I got a couple of cheap but effective ones from B & Q. I think it does depend on what you local store is like. Ours has a good gardening section. Just stay away from the slightly opaque ones. I believe they are not so good, but i don’t have any experience of them myself.

          I found some really good propapgators which have little peat pots, you just add water wait for them to swell up then add seeds, it worked really well for me because it was about £5 from my local garden centre, had 16 little pots and you can put them straight into the ground or another pot when you need to. i mostly leave my seeds to their own devices lol and just prop the lid up when i see something green emerging

            HI

            I got three unheated ones with seed trays for £2.99 in pound stretcher, Don't know how good they will be but figured that for the price i'd give them a go. I'm going to put them on the window sill when i have some, Having new windows fitted at the moment! Plan to get sowing at the weekend
