  • Pigeon droppings

As you can see from my forum name, pigeon droppings are something that I have plenty of. I believe that it is too strong to use as manure directly onto the plants but, would it be of any use if I stored it for a while? If so, how would I store it and for how long? Has anyone any experience of using pigeon poo as manure?

Add it to your compost heap and use when well rotted (12-18 months or so)

My Dad used to gather this for his leeks from where pigeons had roosted under the railway bridges. Pigeon guano is what he called it and it had to be at least two or three years old before he would use it!

Thank you. Looks like I shall have to be patient.
