  • i almost forgot!

i knew there was somethng else that had been playing on my mind whilst the forum was 'away', i planted some pumpkin seeds (about 8) at the tail end of april, aswell as so paquito (about 6) and irish eyes (about 5) sunflowers, all in pots all in the blowaway. But nothing and i mean nothing at all has happened. Is it just me, or does anyone else have a bad feeling about these? surely there should be sign of life by now? what should i do? xx

check the compost/soil they're in is still moist. They need a higher temperature to germinate which is why they're usually sown in may unless you can provide the higher temps to sow earlier, like a heated prop, or indoors, or chitting indoors.
have a rummage gently in the soil and see if you can find the seeds. They may just be sending down a root first, if there's no sign of life, either they're not going to grow, or they may have rotted, or the temp may be too cold.
you can try bringing the pots in, but you'll probably have to sow more.

I've had 2 Blue Moon pumpkin seeds fail and one's grown and 2 out of 3 Atlantic Giant pumpkins have grown. Sometimes the seeds just don't germinate Hanna, but to have so many fail, they probably weren't warm enough. Start again, you have time and I hope you get better germination.

thankyou everyone, well i think you may be right (i knew you would be!) i think they have all failed to germinate, ive had a little nosey in the soil and the seed has not even changed slightly..i think its back to the start with these, but at least i have plenty of time until the pumpkins are needed for halloween! but as they say time flies when youre having fun!! xx
