Courgettes are pretty heavy on space. I reckon you want getting on for a yard between them. They spread. Sprouts a couple of feet apart. Sprouts are in the ground quite a long time too. If space is limited I think I'd want things I could get in (and out) sooner. I sowed my peas fairly early last year and had them out of the ground in time to get salad stuff in after them. Two crops from the one space. You might think about stuff (like peas, climbing beans etc) that go upwards so the ground they use isn't much compared to the crop you get.

Hello Taylorlej, a courgette wants about 1 square yard. If space is very limited I think you could do better.

Last year I grew 2 courgettes in a pot roughly 18" square and one in the ground in the same sort of space. The one in the ground gave me a great crop, and produced more fruit than the two combined in the pot - so I would agree that they need plenty of space! Go for climbers like beans and peas, I was amazed how much I got from a small space since they go upwards and take up very little ground space. Good luck!!

Last year i grew cougette defender, its a bush type not a trailing type.

Took up very little room, I grew it around the feet of my sweetcorn plants. I had loads of fruits, really gone off them now.

Last summer I grew Courgette Black Forest from T & M which is a climber and definitely took up less space then my bush types as well a producing well. I shall be growing these again this summer.
