  • how long for potatoes after foliage dies ?

I grow spuds in sacks and some of them have foliage dying off now and are ready to harvest.
Can they be left like this or would the tubers spoil if they are left with dead leaves ?
Could I just cut back the leaves and leave them a bit longer (up to another week maybe) ?
We arent ready to eat them all yet and Id rather harvest them fresh if theres a way to leave them in the sacks without spoiling.
    Thanks,
    Alison

I left 2 pot pots after the foliage had died down until November-ish and they were fine.

I'd leave them in the ground until you need them. As long as you don't have Keel slugs you'll be fine. Instead of putting them into sacks this year we are leaving them in the ground..It's dark, fairly dry and the best place I think.

Up until now we had some Maris Peers that died back about three weeks ago, still harvesting now, nice and fresh
