  • How long can you keep turnips for?

Once you have picked a turnip how long can you keep it for?
Is there any ways to store them so they last longer?

I prefer to eat turnips within about a week max and only tend to pull them up just before I want them in the same way as I do with carrots at this time of year. I don't grow a lot of turnips as I switch to swede in winter as they keep so much better.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I peel, top and tail them, cut em up small then blanche them a few mins in boiling water, a few mins in cold water, then open freeze them over night.. bag up and keep frozen they are ideal for stews, pies and soups in winter and spring when other veg is scarce.
Me and my mate have about 10lbs each frozen now
