  • Holes in Chilli leaves???

    Hi

Does anyone know what is eating my chilli leaves? I have a variety of chillis- not sure what as they were a 'mixed bag' but the leaves are littered with pin prick holes. At the top of the plant as well as the bottom. They only appeared after the flowers started growing if that's any help.

    Mine are too.
Last year I found a maggot inside some of the fruits (I think photos are in one of my albums on here). Not sure if it was a goodie or a baddie

My Sweet Peppers and some of my Toms have small holes in the leaves....I found it was Caterpillers...really teeny breen ones underneath and they have a habit of dropping themselves off the leaf on a length of silk when you start looking for them! I think they are from a Moth.

I also have holes in all my chilli leaves this year on close inspection there caused by a tiny green caterpillar about 1cm long...I've been having fun squishing them. I don't think they'll cause any damage to the chilli's them self's...they just make the plant look naff.

I thought it was slugs and snails. Must go on a caterpillar hunt tomorrow

I have them on my chillies leaves, squished them with hands but still they ate a lot, what they are called and any remedy....

I've got the same tiny caterpillars but only on those chillies and peppers in the greenhouse.

Ta very much for all your replies. I'm going outside now with a magnifying glass and gloved hands to do some squishing.

                      Hi all,

Got back from a couple of days away to find two habeneros with same problem. Little green caterpillars about 3mm long eat holes like a shotgun has shot the leaves only affected my two habeneros (so far) out of 18 Chillis of various varieties. Has anyone got a suggestion to spray with something?

Finger and thumb is probably your best bet to be honest. If they are in pots take them somewhere away from your other plants and give them a good wash with a hose first. That should dislodge some.

Thanks I will do. I’ve decided to put these two outside now as the greenhouse is quite cramped!
