  • growing in shade

hi ,got a raised bed(4ftx15ft) under an apple tree that gets the sun for half the day,its got probably the best soil in the garden, but nothing grows in it!!!
We've tried allsorts and only a few potato plants have given us anything .Anyone care to advise us what's best to plant-veg or fruit wise, before hubby flattens the whole area.
    thanks

Perhaps the apple tree is sucking up all the water and nutrients?
