  • Growing Peppers

I've got a pepper plant I grew from seed and it's has small fruit, flowers and buds. I was just wondering how many to let fruit, I think I read somewhere that four was the limit per plant is the right?? I have about 5 fruiting and about 5 buds on the plant. Any pointers?

    Cheers

    Tim
BTW it's a California Wonder Pepper.

I don't remove the fruits from my plant but the I only get around 6 or so per plant anyway. I'd keep the 5 you have. Have you got a heated greenhouse? My plants are still tiny.

I have a unheated walk-in green house, but I've grown it in the Kitchen window. They were sown on the 24th Feb.

I've got some in a similar state to yours which is really nice. Never pick off any fruits although am guessing you'll get larger ones if you do, I just prefer to have loads of smaller ones. Last year, from a pretty small Lipstick plant, I got about 15 and would have got more if it hadn't been got by an early frost.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

My pepper seemed to automatically stop developing more after it had set half a dozen. Some just didn't grow and others dropped off instead of growing. Then once the first half dozen were changing colour the next lot started growing. I'd just leave them

I've never removed a bud/fruitlet from a pepper or chilli plant and I've been growing them for a good few years now I find that the plants automatically drop some if there's more than it can cope with.

I'm jealous Tim, that's huge compared to mine which was sown 5 days before yours. What have you been feeding it on?
