Default Greenhouse Day

Hi Alice

I'm planning to grow some tomatoes and peppers - I did try growing peppers outside last year and they really didn't come to much. I absolutely adore spices and hot food so would like to grow chillies and then dry some for use through the winter. I don't really like cucumber so wouldn't bother with those. Thought I could try gem squash although I don't know if they would get too hot in the GH.

Happy growing!

Have fun - chillies and tomatoes should do really well. Also really good for raising seeds and cuttings.

As good a day for celebrating as anything else. We are hoping to get our greenhouse 'seedworthy' tomorrow, so will join you in celebrating.

Congratulations SM you will have many happy hours in your greenhouse! I grew peppers, chillis and tomatoes in mine last year, as well of course, using it to grow my seedlings - going to get started this weekend methinks for this year..... Bernie aka Dexterdog

Default Greenhouse Day

Hey all!

Sadly couldn't get any greenhouse building done over the weekend as my mum was taken ill so had to bomb down to Wales and try and sort stuff out. Have just got back and luckily mum is fairly ok - have left her in the (less than capable) hands of my brother. Oh dear

Greenhouse v important but not as important as my dear old mum. Always next weekend to get building and luckily the nights will be getting lighter now - yay!

Happy growing one and all.

Hi Squashmuppet, so sorry to hear about your mum but glad to hear she's ok now. Know what you mean about your mum being more important than anything else. My mum will be 89 next month and we have had a lot of worry in the last few months as she was'nt well at all. thankfully she seems to be back to herself.
Hope you get your greenhouse up and running next weekend. Enjoy.

Hi
I am sorry that your Green house has been delayed. My husband put ours together last year, so I didn't get to play foas it took him a week as he is very througher.
I love my green house I have just spent the best part of the weekend with my seedlings which I talk to and most of them are doing well. This year I am growing Okra, cucumber, aubergeine, chilli pepers and sweet pepers and tomatoes it will be like the day of the triffid when everything is mature. I like to use every square inch.Having problems with my pepers melon and squash germinating.
Let us know when you are up and running, ansd how things go.

Default Greenhouse Day

Hello.

Thanks for that I'm sure I'll be up and running soon! I have booked a week off work over Easter so I'll get the GH built then. Yay! Might rope in a couple of the old guys to help me

I know Bramble - they are such a worry. My mum is only 70 but she has rheumatoid arthritis and finds it so difficult to get round. She lives in a little bungalow which she finds fairly easy to manage. I'm hoping she'll be well enough to come and stay for a couple of days over easter but she finds the stairs in my house hard to manage.

wow greenmachine - you have a lot going on. I've never tried growing okra or melons. Are they fairly difficult? I love growing squashes - shame that yours aren't germinating yet.

Cheers guys - happy growing

Squash Muppet
