Green manure

We have used Green Manure. When we build our raised bed late last year, we decided that we would give it ago. Left it to grown until about 6 inches, and then turned it all over in the soil.

The veg/plants growing in the raised bed seem to be doing fine, in fact things are growing on very well.

I'm thinking about growing the Field Beans as they are good for overwintering it says. So think I will give it a try this year

I've tried lots of different ones, without a load of success.

The best for me is Limnanthes (poached egg). It suppresses weeds, covers bare soil and provides loads of compost material (and is easy to hoe off)

I had some of them last year and they didn't do too well. I grew them to get hover flies but they got battered by the rain
