Radish are notoriously fast! Most other things take about a week to ten days, but it obviously varies with temperature. Members of the onion and carrot family can be a bit on the slow side, so a fortnight wouldn't be implausible. I almost gave up on my second batch of leeks, as they took the best part of a month to come up

On the other hand... Where did you sow these seeds? If it's outdoors, there's a chance that they were mown down by slugs the moment they popped their little heads above the soil - it's happened to me on the allotment in the past

If it was outdoors in Ayr...then it's going to take a while yet.

Hi Guys its ouside but in containers. So you think I should leave them a while and not get to impatient.

My shallots aren't up yet, after three weeks. Am I worried? No.

I'm not much further north than you susie, but my little gems took 13 days to appear, and that was in a growhouse.
My White Lisbons (also in a container in the growhouse) took about 8 days to germinate.
No sign of the carrots I sowed on 31/03, but I'm not expecting to see them for at least another week - maybe two.
I'd say it's too early to worry about them... be patient and they'll surely appear

It's not easy is it! I think I'm suffering the same symptoms.

At least when I'm at work I'm not looking at my raised bed every 15 mins checking for signs of life. Neighbours probably think I've lost it.
Right... back in a minute... just have to go and check something in the garden
