Default Cut 'n' come again salad leaves

What sort of size tray am i looking at to grow these in. i don't need *too* many, but i'm at a loss at the kind of thing im looking for. i haven't got much space, so i'd need to do only smallish amounts at a time. how deep does it have to have the best chance of success? are foil containers (the roasting tray sort of size ones) ok? or would that sort of thing get too warm/cold for them? i'm only thinking those, cus they seem the right sort of size/depth for what i need, and are cheaply available..

any other suggestions?

thankyou
