  • Cucumber Advice

Not so much a problem with my cucmber, just some advice needed. I sowed some cucumber seeds at the start of May (sorry can't remember what variety, think it was Saladin), Anyhoo, the 6 seeds (yes I know too many!) all germinated and I have potted them all up as they've grown.

At the moment they are in my blow away greenhouse with the top shelf removed due to their height, but today I noticed that they have grown 'tentacles' (not sure of the proper name sorry!) and have wrapped themselves around one of the shelving bars. Should I just leave them be? Was thinking of transferring to a growbag but not sure now. Any advice greatly appreciated

I thought this when I went to pot up some of my cucumber plants and they'd wrapped their tentacles around the sticks of other plants.

I just carefull unwound them and repotted them. They seem fine and have wrapped themselves around their own sticks now and have started to fruit.

            Thanks for the advice guys

As I said in the first message, I didn't know what else to call them! Plus none of my photos will upload to the site so I couldn't show you what I meant

Oh and Jax, I think that was the name, don't have the packet anymore and that is what I found in the Marshall seeds catalogue but I could be wrong.

i think there tendrils they allow the plant to climb/ramble they wing around stick branch etc and then support the fruit
this will be a battle from the heart

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
