  • Coop Poop:D

I've been given some sacks of coop poop mixed with biodegradeable coop liner (hessian?) with a promise of more to follow.

Can I mix it in with garden soil and garden compost to use now?

Or should I allow it to age by mixing it into the Tumbler and Dalek in layers?

I have chicken pellets, BFB, Bonemeal, Compost Tea and Worm Tea for immediate use if it is better to let the coop poop age gracefully.

I think that's an 'ask 100 grapes, get 100 answers' question!

Personally, as you are in no rush, I'd bung in on the compost/dalek and it will produce very fine compost in due course.

    And the other 99 opinions......

Thank you Hazel. Another night owl or an early slug stalker?

I've used it scattered on the surface in early spring and left to weather down, but that was my own (or rather my chickens' ) and had been left in a bucket for several months. On the compost heap would be best for fresh stuff - it makes an excellent activator

And I'd compost it! Like Hazel said, 100 grapes, 100 answers!

And here's yet another one of the 100 answers.

I usually give spring cabbage and other winter brassicas a boost at this time of year to kick start them into growth. Before i went organic i used to use Sulphate of Ammonia sprinled around base of plants................this year I am trying fresh poultry poop! Poultry poop supposedly has poo and pee (the white bit) in together. Pee is ammonia, so logically it will give my brassicas a nitro boost when applied around the base of plants without touching them.........and it's organic!

Worth a try I thought! I'll let you know how I get on!

              Thank you all.

I need to empty the Tumbler and Dalek and kick off anew, so I'll use it as activator. Probably

I think I might try that on the lottie, Snadger - I've got some cavalo nero coming along nicely, but the PSB is a bit slow (prolly the horrible weather earlier this month)...
