  • Compost bin

Hi! i'm a newbie making my first post, i will have many questions about veg growing but for now my first question is regarding my compost bin, i dug lots of holes for my fence posts and i'm left with lots of soil, can i put this in my compost bim or should i just dump it.

I'd spread it out over the veg beds. It won't hurt to put some of it in the bin as it will contain worms and bacteria to help breakdown the compost. But it's going to end up on the veg anyway, so if there is a lot of it you will fill your bin up with soil rather than with potential soil improver.

Thanks for the quick reply, what i didn't mention was i don't have a veg plot so i plan to grow most of my veg in tubs and pots, so i don't have any beds to spread the soil, so if i do introduce it into the compost bin will the compost be ok to use in tubs or would i need to mix my compost with something else like multi-purpose or john innes.

I'd just mix it straight with new compost, no need for compost bin.
