Just use a common sense approach. A frost free environment is all that they need to keep them safe. I think most fridges are set to about 4�C so keeping them in there has only one down side ------they take up room.

you mean 'why'?

because I save the best of the crop, and keep them chilled (just like professional growers do) until it's time to replant them
