Default Canes

I have been given some runner beans and I was wondering if my 6ft canes would suffice or do I need to get the 8ft ones.

Thanks

Muriel

How tall are you?
(Allowing for a foot or so of the cane in the ground)
I normally stop mine (pinch out tips) at the point I can't reach any further to pick!

I'm 5ft 1. This is partly why I was hoping that I could use my 6ft canes.

Thanks

I'm 5ft 2 and 3/4's (it matters!) but hubby put up the 8ft canes - guess he'll have to pick the high up beans!

Your runner beans will grow to the top of an 8ft cane no problem but given your height, the six ft canes will be more than enough and as Vicky has said, just pinch out the growing tip when you can just reach the top of the plant.
