Default brocolli and cauliflowers

Hi is it necessary to start caulis and brocolli off in seed trays or pots first? Or can they go straight outside in their intended spot?

thanks, janeyo

We've always started ours in pots or trays as they are prone to slug damage when they are very small.

Don't sow too many caulies at once though - they take a lot of eating if you get six or eight maturing all at once!

Good point, thanks, I am the only one in the family who likes them. (I guess I would go off them if had to eat a glut of them!)I will try and restrain myself.... but it's so hard with all these seeds in my shed! They are calling to me right now....
