  • Bamboo trees

I have been looking at various trees (as seen in my other thread).

I love the bamboos, especially the blue variety.

I know about clump formers being preferable, but do these need a membrane to be planted around the roots, or are they self containing?

Is it practical to grow bamboo from seed?

A membrane won't stop any bamboo, you'll need to to use something like paving slabs to line the hole!
TS's link says 3m spread - that's pretty big for a clump! And I'd be wary of 'new introductions to the uk' as they might not behave here as they do in their native habitat!
