  • Baby spinach query

    Hello all,

I love eating baby spinach so thought I'd give it a go.
I sowed into mushroom trays quite a while ago, trying to do successional sowing. Anyway, they germinated and grew a few leaves, but then just kinda sat there and now they are wanting to flower. They were in the blowaway (which blew down yesterday so these are looking slightly worse than before).
It's quite disappointing and I wonder what I should have been doing to have a better outcome.
Here's a couple of pics, one lot was planted on 18th April.
Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

I wonder if it was to hot for them in the blowaway? Some of my spinach which is outside has bolted, I think through it being such a hot spell recently.

Agree with Oldie - my spinach grew beautifully and then bolted - but I did manage to eat most of it. Although I planted mine in raised beds - it was the hot spell that did it. Sowed some more 2 weeks ago and its looking good so far despite this time having had rain most days.

Give it another go - you could try growing somewhere with a little bit of shade. Also grow lots and lots -
I never seem to grow enough!
