      Lettuce does well in the shade.
      Location....East Midlands.

        If your plants are overcrowded you may encourage fungal spores...having said that I'd go for lettuce too - they are low and are quick to mature.

            I've planted nasturtiums along with mine. They haven't flowered yet, but the flowers are edible (not sure about the leaves) and very pretty.
            Is there anything that isn't made better by half an hour pottering in the veg patch?
