After finding half my allotment under water most weekends for the past 3 months, I rang the council to see what my options were. They said they would be prepared to improve the drainage but that I could swap for a plot further up the slope.
Still gets wet but doesn't get waterlogged. It's also slightly bigger, flat and has been cultivated recently so not too much work to catch up.
It does mean I've lot all the time and cost I'd put into the other one but a better deal all round.
