  • Gooseberries wanted

Hello all, I new to this forum and have recently moved to a house with a garden big enough to have its oen allotment in the bottom, so I'll doubtless be logging on quite often in the near future.

My father-in-law is an avid winemaker but has had terrible trouble getting enough gooseberries to make any this year. I'm in Huddersfield but would happily pay for the fruit as well as postage and packing.

If anyone could help I would be most grateful and I'm sure F-I-Law would save a bottle for anyone who can help.

    thanks

    Mal

PS - Our first year and we've succeeded in growing apples, pears, rhubarb, raspberries, leeks, onions, potatoes, courgettes, tomatoes, chilis, broad beans, carrots, lettuce, radish, sugar snaps, garlic and we've planted some asparagus! Roll on next year!

Can't help with the gooseberries, Mal, I'm afraid, but just wanted to say welcome to the Vine - and with that list of goodies under your belt you'll be teaching us a thing to two too!

Got about a dozen from my one bush this year. Last year got lots. on the up side got loads of blackcurrants, red currants and raspberries, so can't really complain.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

I had around 15lb of fruit from 1 bush and had around 35lb altogether, but I also make wine so none spare I'm afraid. I have had a really good year especially with fruit so far, but not as good as Nicos, 24lb on 1 bush, nice going!

Wow, I'll swap a goji or blueberry cutting (ifthey take) for any soft fruit, especially gooseberry.
