I was thinking of growing Runner beans in the middle of my Allotment plot with Second Early Potatoes on the northern side of the runner beans. Would the shade affect them at all or should it make no difference?

It won't make a big difference because by the time the beans are getting tall the potatoes will have finished most of their growing.
I move my beans from year to year so they are often in the middle of the plot, although my beds run in a North-South direction so nothing gets shaded for the whole day. -
I would doubt the beans would be dense enough when you 2nd earliest are ready to create much of a problem. I don't plant my beans out until JuneComment
