How to water seedlings
Hi guys was just wondering how do you all water your young flower seedlings.
From below or from the top.

If they're in trays or pots, water from below by standing them in a tray of water.............
If they're in the ground, water from the top

Yeah but what I mean is ,if you water from below how long would you have to leave it,until the water
Soaks up to the top of the soil to feed the roots.

You don't really want to let the water soak right the way through to the top of the compost that will only encourage mildew.Potty by name Potty by nature.

A lot depends on what medium you're using, too. I use a coir/perlite mix for starting my seeds and I start them in very small pots.
If you're going to water from the bottom, check to make sure that the water is getting high enough up the pot without the pot becoming too wet.

I use a cleaned Airwick toilet spray bottle filled with rainwater as a mister for seedlings.Comment

I have sowed my seeds in ice cube trays inside a heated propagator .
I have used John innes seed compost that I have fluffed up then added a small amount of water .
In each cell in the tray I have put two thirds compost , sowed the seeds and lightly covered in moist compost
From a local agricultural merchants I bought a cheap plastic syringe.
So I can add water as needed to each cell accurately if needed
Last weekend I sowed a lot of seeds . Since then some thyme and sweet peas are germinating !
I'm no expert gardener but from previous experience it's better to keep seeds from becoming water logged !

Just an addition to the above suggestions- anything that's in a heated propagator will dry out from below so may look moist on top but be bone dry at the bottom. So keep an eye on that while germinating and water from below or 'dunk' if needed.Comment
