    advice with cold weather please

    Just really wanting to know what you would do.

    I have a bed with tiny little beans forming.
    Courgette, tomato, pepper and aubergine plants in the PT courgettes are just about to give their first fruit.

    And few tubs of potatoes

    The day after tomorrow the weather forecast says it will go down to 4degrees in the night. I do not really no what to do, i am experimenting with plants this year and previous years, when the cold came and took my plants that would be it. But i would like to save them. Maybe i do not need to worry about 4degrees. But just want to know what you would do???

    You could try fleecing them.

      I cannot find any fleece to buy

        Newspaper, old sheets, bubblewrap, net curtains. Anything lightweight for a bit of extra protection.

          Yep - I've used velvet(!) & net curtains, old sheets, plastic sheeting/bags, bubble wrap from deliveries, even cardboard boxes when desperate. even just popped big flower pots over vulnerable plants.

                Found some old light weight bed sheets they will do, its only for 3 nights. I can bring the pots inside

                      I used to cut 2l plastic pop bottles in half and put the top half over my young plants in the polytunnel until the nights began to warm up properly. It worked like a cloche to protect them

                        Thanks GK, but do not think that will help with the massive courgettes and 2 meter high tomīs
                        But i will do that with other i plants i put out just before the cold weather leaves us

                          I'm sure the light weight bed sheets will do the job. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
