  • Is bulb size relative?

    I've been to the £ shop today....always a mistake

    I bought a 'bulb collection' 75 flower bulbs comprising (allegedly)......

    Peacock orchid aciddanthera
    Gladiolus priscilla
    Liastris spicata
    and Oxalis Deppei

    All of the bulbs are mixed in together in one bag.

    So, my question is;
    Does the size of the bulb relate to the size of the plant? If I put the big bulbs at the back are they likely to be the tallest flowers do you think?

    On this occasion I would say almost yes. I am not familiar with Liastris spicata tho

      Acidanthera, liatris and gladioli are all about the same height, and oxalis is smaller. if you need to identify them, go to google images, and search for Oxalis Deppei bulb etc. You'll get pics of the bulbs/corms, and should be able to tell them apart.

      Gladioli look like big crocus corms, liatris are more "lumpy" looking, oxalis should be small and acidanthera will be like the glads but pointy (I think).

      Endless wonder.
