  • Recommend A Grape Variety

I got space to grow a grape vine on the south facing wall. Can anyone recommend a variety that can be grown outside?

    Where are you?

A German bred one, is suitable for the mid-south region of the UK.. muscat - can be eaten (as opposed to just for wine making), but has seeds: White Grape, Phoenix.

    It's a tad rampant mind

Yes. I'm in South Wales too - and have a phoenix. It'll grow to ~18m in ideal conditions. You can of course prune it to keep it within set boundaries.

If you want a good sweet dessert grape them unfortunately they're more suited to growing undercover. I seem to recall something about 'Flame' growing well, possibly via someone here or another gardening forum - also in S.Wales.

I have a flame and lakemont seedless, both are fantastic tasting. I would heartily recommend flame if you like purple/black seedless as I do.
