  • Holidays and hen sitting

What do you do with your ladies when you go on your holidays? We've got a two week summer holiday this year. Usually a friend pops round to check the hens are happy but she's unable to do it this time. I've called the store where I get my feed from and they're charging £7 per night for four chooks. Is this expensive?

My neighbour collects my hens eggs - otherwise they'll break some of them.. If she can't then I'd probably just leave them to it unless I was going away for a long time... in which case I'd ask some other friends who keeps chooks to pop over and check on them.

My teenage sons mates are more than happy to come, once in the morning and evening. They sell the eggs to their parents and they get £20 a week. I don't like leaving the eggs uncollected as it leads to egg eating if one gets broken or they get sat on for a week!

No idea about hens but it's cheaper than a cattery!
