  • Carrots, asparagus and a bug!!

    Hello

    A few questions please!

Firstly, other plot holders have told me they have had bad attacks from carrot fly, I plan to plant my carrots with onions in slightly raised beds. I was told that planting with onions did not stop them. Can anyone give me anymore ideas please as to how to stop them?

I put in an asparagus bed yesterday, I know I have to leave it for a year - what do I do, leave the growth there? If so till when please?

There is loads and loads of lady birds on plot - in one bed I was weeding today there was 7!!!! That's a gd thing isn't it?!

There is a lot of another bug and I have no idea what it is - can anyone please help me, it was a flying insect, similar shape to wasp but smaller and was red in colour.

All help is greatly appreciated - thank you

Covering the entire carrot crop with envoironmesh is the best method,as this will totally exclude them.

Let your asparagus grow this year. It will produce tall ferns. Leave them till they go brown at the end of the year and then cut them down to ground level.
