In your last book, you mention how easy it is to ask your local wine merchant for some wine boxes...well i tried, and apparently wine is mostly delivered in cardboard these days. Tried ebay, and wine boxes are being sold for a small fortune. Any other ideas or online wine merchants that definitely have spare boxes to give away/few pennies. Or any new clever growing ideas? Also had trouble sourcing any cool olive oil tins etc. Any tips?

You need really high-end wine merchants. I used Berry Brothers as one source. If I pass independent wine merchants and they have wooden boxes I always enquire. Mostly you have to ask one week and go back another as they are either using them from display or breaking them up immediately. You just have to keep asking. I think you need to go in person. On-line merchants probably can’t be bothered with sending out just the box!

Olive tins are best sourced from farmer’s markets. The stall that sells all the olives and nibbles always buys them in bulk and will often help out. Then you just trawl around Asian neighbourhoods as they put a lot out on recycling day (that’s where lots of mine came from).
