  • Shallot Disaster

Back in mid-May, I planted a couple of dozen bulbs in light well-compost'd soil, less than half a dozen have poked their little shoots above the soil.

Investigating yesterday (while there was a football match between England and somewhere else), I've seen that the ne'er-do-wells have grown root systems, but nowt else.

What's gone wrong? Other members of the allium group are growing like gangbusters.

Ta'. It had been a last minute decision, as I freed up some more space... I bought the last of the supplies at the local garden centre, so mebbe they were duff.

I've popped milk cartons over the surviving ones just to boost them a wee bit, and have been given access to a greenhouse so will try growing some of the others there.
