  • Damaged cucumber leaves

Are cucumber seedlings particularly prone to scorch, even if the leaves are dry? With my seedlings, sitting in front of a sunny bay window, the seed leaves turned white and crinkly at the edges, until now the seed leaves are almost completely white, curled and papery. Is this scorch?

I've now moved them to the back, to be somewhat shaded by my taller chilli and tomato plants. They only have 1 real leaf each, so hoping for the best.

It's my first time growing cucumbers, so all advice gratefully received.

    Thank you
    Caro

As I understand it, the seed leaves do eventually die off because they are no longer needed. As long as the rest of the plant looks healthy, I shouldn't worry.

      Hi Caro

Sometimes plants get scorch because they cannot take up enough water, during very hot peroids of the day, it doesn't always mean that the leaves have had water on them in the sun.

Like selfrasing said, I am sure they will be fine, they do have quite delicate leaves compared to some plants though.

My cucumbers are just the same, the rest of the plant looks ok so I`m not worried about it.

Thanks everyone, it's just that they're very small seedlings - they only have one real leaf each, which doesn't seem much if the seed leaves are disintegrating. The real leaves seem healthy though, so fingers crossed.
