    Flower Seed ID

    I got a packet of mixed annual flower seeds free with something. The only details on the packet are on the lines of scatter and thin to 1' spacing. I don't have tons of space so I'd rather know what they are and how big they get so I can sow them in pots and plant out where I want them. If I scatter they'll probably get weeded out!

    Trouble is I only recognise one seed (No. 3 is cornflower, right?) Is anyone a bit better at IDing than me?

          In all seriousness tamsin, that's a dead difficult ident to do, however much one thinks one knows at the best of times!

          I'd definitely say that Miss Marple's right with No.5: Calendula (Pot Marigold) because I've just recently sown loads of seed I harvested previously from the cottage.
          I'll bear it in mind, and have a further stab if I get divine inspiration at all.

                  15 could be foxglove- if they are irregular - if spherical then I'd go with poppy still ( tis very hard to see, even though you have done a good jod with the photo!)

                    The best solution would be to sow a pot of each, let it germinate and get beyond the seed leaves, and post again - we'd probably be able to get most of them then!

                      Just took a Sunflower seed out of the packet, and it's a pretty match for No.1.
                      Your No.11 resembles a Lupin seed, but I doubt that it is.

                      I'm in total agreement: Sow them, Grow them, and let's take an informed 'stab at it' then?

                          I'd sort them into groups , sow them and see what appears. It'll be a nice surprise .

                            Lol, well any excuse to sow just a few more seeds I will start some off tomorrow and return with pictures of leaves
