  • Night Scented Stock

    Hi all,

I have to say that I usually only grow stuff to eat,,,,,
but I do like Night Scented stock now & then, for those warm, balmy evenings,,,,

I usually just buy standard 'N.S.S' but was wondering if there are any others that I ought to consider ?

As long as there's a decent scent & dosn't take much growing (I'm disabled so can't spend a lot of time gardening i'm afraid).

    cheers folks
try it once,,,,, you might like it !

Have a look here on T&M and see if there is any you like.

Not sure if they all smell or not through...

Dont go for an ordinary stock....they just do not smell the same !!!I would just settle for bog standard night scented ....i like to grow them too...but they dont do too well here...altho they do sell them - Giroflee I think they are called in my catalogue ..Starlight Sensation.

Thanks for reminding me - I love night scented stock, used to grow it as a child.

        Will try it this year.

I think the usual idea is to mix virginia stock with night sented stock then you have the best of both worlds!

Nicotiana always smells good...better than it looks but hey.

The problem being that we didn't get any warm nights last year! Hopefully we will have a decent summer with warm nights this year!

If you like scent in the evenings try Nicotiana. The scented varieties are fab especially if planted near an opening window of your home, allowing the scent to drift through over the evening and night. They are pretty easy to grow and come in a range of colours and sizes. My favourite is Nicotiana affinis a white variety that grows to about 2 feet.
