  • Post and wire fence - Help

I'm trying to construct a post and wire fence for my summer raspberries. I've got 8ft posts buried 2 or 3 feet in the clay soil but the blighters keep falling inwards and the wire seems to slacken as soon as my back is turned.
I've tried concreting them in but even this won't hold them. I've noticed a skip next to the allotment is full of rubble. If I filled the post holes with rubble and put a bracing post in do you think this might work?

    Any advice?

I would have thought a diagonal bracing post on the inside of each upright( maybe even with a small notch in the upright on each end post) should do the trick.
You don't say what span you are covering? You may need extra support posts in between.

Thats what you need RM, the wire is pulling it in so you need to brace them. you could get some half round & put on the top as well that will help.

        Post and wire

Thanks for the advice, will try again this weekend. Expect much cursing and swearing on Saturday.
