  • My new allotment

Its quite a big allotment and the photos don't do it justice at all. It has my uncle pigeons on at the minute the big dark thing at the back is where his pigeons are and the other building is wehere he keeps his feed that was already on the lottie. It's quite old and battered, ive read the rules and ca't find anything saying about pulling the shed building down. Will i be allowed to take the old shed building down??

    Congrats on the lottie, Ashley!

I would have thought there would be no problem about taking the shed down - normally the only regulations are about what you are allowed to put up! I hope you can put some of the wood to good use - our damaged fence has been invaluable for edging the permanent beds (can't call them raised as such - my aim is more to keep the couch grass under control).

As Eyren says, committees are far more obsessed about what you put up than what you take down. Recycle as much of the wood as you can and if there are other pigeon keepers on site ask then about when it is possible to burn the rest. Pigeon keepers can become quite irate (OK then, extremely furious) if you have a fire on race day as it can apparently put the birds off returning. It's best to keep them on-side, not only do you not want to argue with your neighbours, but pigeon poo is good for the soil if you rot it down well.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

If you can hang on a couple of weeks, you can get Southgate to do it for you while he's on jobseekers allowance

If it ain't broke, don't fix it and if you ain't going to eat it, don't kill it
